Fred Nolting dies at 80
Fred Nolting, who labored his in place to senior Vice president of publish-production at MGM/UA during the period of a nearly five-decade career, died of cancer on November. 13, his 80th birthday, in Mission Viejo, Calif. Born in La, Nolting began in the industry within the mail/shipping department at Metrocolor Lab at age 16. Through the sixties he would be a color timer, a customer support representative. Following a six-month stint at Luxurious Lab in 1977, he came back to MGM as director of publish-production in 1980, within the wake from the merger, he grew to become director of publish for MGM/UA. He was marketed to v . p . of publish later after which later to senior Vice president, retiring from MGM/UA in 1992. In 1993 Nolting became a member of The new sony to sign up in the introduction of cinema audio system SDDS but upon the market permanently in 1994. First wife Joanne Nolting died later. Children include Nolting's second wife, Lila Nolting boy Kevin, a movie editor daughter Nancy Van Hoven and three grandchildren. Contact Variety Staff at news@variety.com
